PARKERS BECOME NAMED SPONSOR OF THE LEWES FC SOUTH STAND
Parker Building Supplies are proud to announce that we have become the official named sponsor of the Lewes FC South Stand at the club’s Dripping Pan Stadium in East Sussex.
As the Stadium’s principle sponsor, our branding will be seen by up to 15,000 people over 60 matches during the 2017/18 season, and will also guarantee us top billing on the club’s website, media backdrops and the Matchday programme.
Most football clubs are privately owned, with wealthy investors ploughing investments in with their own cash. Lewes Football Club do things a bit differently and pride their independence as a 100% community-owned and not-for-profit football club. As they say: “Run by the people, of the people, and for the people”.
EQUALITY FC: CREATING A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD
Lewes FC recently hit the national headlines by becoming the FIRST professional or semi-pro club in the world to start paying its women footballers the same as its men – the same playing budgets, hence the The Rooks and Rookettes, as they are known, wear the logo of their Equality FC campaign on their shirts.
The women’s side operate at a higher level compared to their male counterparts, playing in the Premier League Southern Division, the third tier of women’s football.
The Dripping Pan, so named because the site was where monks from the local priory used to dry water from the nearby river to make salt, has been home to Lewes F.C. since their incarnation in 1885. It had previously been used by Lewes Priory Cricket Club, though the ground itself had been used by the people of Lewes as a centre for recreation as far back as records exist, including athletics.
‘The Pan’ has seen major redevelopment over recent years in order for it to achieve the necessary ground grading to allow it to be used as a football venue in the Conference South and the Conference National. Developing the ground has had its obstacles as the perimeter walls of the Dripping Pan are listed.
In April 2008, the ground was awarded a ‘B’ grade allowing it to be used in the Conference National. The ground has been updated further to ensure it is awarded the required ‘A’ grade by April 2009.
